My Feeling After This Period of Time

At the beginning when I am doing this goal, I take it as my homeworks of my personal development module. However, after a period of time, I found that playing badminton is very interesting and I feel very happy when I won over my friend at the last week of the goal.

Along this period of time,I found that I can fullfill my free time with playing badminton. this is good as playing badminton is a good for our health. It is better for us to do other things which are useless such as shopping and playing games. Besides that, I found that I have many good friends as they really can share what they know with me and is willing to help me along this period of time.

Week 13th - The final Competition

This week - week 13th and also the last week for my goal.

In this week, my friends decide to have a final competition with me to test me whether I can achieve my goal. This time, I have the feel that I can win over my friend as I have been practising for so long time. Besides that, I have also found out what are my weakness in playing badminton last week. So, I have the confidence to win over my friend.

After they tell us about the rules of the competition, we start the competition. At the beginning of the competition, I score the same marks with my friend as what happen in last week. I really scare that the final result will be the same as week 11th . Finally, the competition end and the result is I win over my friend with the result 21-19. I feel very happy with my result although I win over my friend with two marks.

Improve My Weakness in Week 12th

At week 12th , after the competition at week 11th , my friend s try to find out what is my weakness when I having the competition with my friend. They try to improve my skill in playing badminton by reduce my weakness. So, instead of practising with me, they try to put more effort on improving my weakness in this week.

I have learned many things in this week as I found many weakness in myself when I am playing badminton. I also very appreciate the teaching of my friends on how to reduce my weakness. Beside what they teach me to reduce my weakness, I also try to do more practising on the techique which I found that I cannot handle it so well.

So, that’s all for this week.

Competition with My Friend at Week 11th

At week 11th , my friend decide to have a competition with me. I have been did much practising before this competition. Before we start the competition, I tell myself that I must do the best in the competition. Before this, I never win over my friends in the badminton competition as I am very poor in playing badminton. So, I really hope that I can win over them this time.

Before the competition start, they said that the marks of the competition will be counted and the rules will be the same as the standard one. The players should be told about all these things before the competition start to prevent arguing after the result come up. After all the things have been settled, we start the competition.

One of them had been chosen to compete with me. At the beginning of the competition, we score the same mark. However, I have to chase behind my friend after some time we play. Finally, the competition end by the result 17-21 and it shows that I have been lose. I feel very sad about my result. However, I promise myself to do more practice to improve myself and win over my friends.

Practising along Week 10th

I didn't have any post for long time. This is because I was busy preparing and studying for my common test. However, I still practised playing badminton along that time. So, I will post all things and practising I have done along that time today.

At week 10th, my friends who always practise with me found that I have learned more technique from my father after I come back from Malaysia. However, they said that I still need to do more practise to improve myself. So, they will continue practising with me to help me improve my skill in playing badminton.

This is because it can helps me to recall and improve my skill in the technique of badminton. I will ask my brother to practise with me as I cannot practise with my roomates in Singapore.

I will practise with my brother at 5 o'clock in the evening because the wether at the time is suitable for us to practise. We will stop practising at 8 o'clock as it is time for us to have dinner. We will try to practise everyday except my brother or me is not free. Sometime, my father or my mother will also and teach and practise with me if they are free. So, i can also learn some technique of badminton from them.

Lastly, i hope that i can improve my skill in playing badminton and some new technique along the week i stay ay Malaysia.

Starting Practise Playing Badminton

Today, I have no class in the school. So, I have decide to start practising the badminton. I do not need to buy the new badminton rackets and the shuttlecock. This is because my friend,Cheng Xun brought them for me last Saturday. He is also one of them who will teach me to play the badminton. He had said that he will come to my house every Sunday to teach me except he is not free.

I only start practising the badminton together with my roomates today. I have been learned about the basic of the badminton which is how to play the badminton with backhand technique. I think i can master the skill of this technique after i practising it for a few more weeks.

History of Badminton

History of Badmintion

In the 5th century BC, the people in china then played a game called ti jian zi. A direct translation from this word 'ti jian zi' is kicking the shuttle. As the name suggest, the objective of the game is to keep the shuttle from hitting the ground without using hand. Whether this sport has anything to do with the History of Badminton is up for debate. It was however the first game that uses a Shuttle.

About five centuries later, a game named Battledore and Shuttlecock was played in china, Japan, India and Greece. This is a game where you use the Battledore (a paddle) to hit the Shuttlecock back and forth. By the 16th century, it has become a popular game among children in England. In Europe this game was known as jeu de volant to them. In the 1860s, a game named Poona was played in India. This game is much like the Battledore and Shuttlecock but with an added net. The British army learned this game in India and took the equipments back to England during the 1870s.

In 1873, the Duke of Beaufort held a lawn party in his country place, Badminton. A game of Poona was played on that day and became popular among the British society's elite. The new party sport became known as "the Badminton game". In 1877, the Bath Badminton Club was formed and developed the first official set of rules. The International Badminton Federation (IBF) was formed in 1934 with 9 founding members.- England- Ireland- Scotland- Wales- Denmark- Holland- Canada- New Zealand- FranceSince then, major international tournaments like the Thomas Cup (Men) and Uber Cup (Women) were held. Badminton was officially granted Olympic status in the 1992 Barcelona Games. From 9 founding members, IBF now have over 150 member countries. The future of Badminton looks bright indeed.

I believe you have a far better understanding on the History of Badminton now.

First Goal :Improve My Skill In Badminton

SPECIFIC

What is my goal?

Recently, I have been decided to improve my skill in badminton. I love this sport so much since long time ago. However, I didn’t try to learn it seriously due to many factors. When I was studied in secondary school, I always concentrated on my study because I want to get good result in my exams. Although I participated in some sport club such as Archery Club, I always missed the meeting and the practice. I always had many excuse for me to absent the activities. However, I feel regret now because I found that sport will bring me many advantages. So, I have been decided to try my best to improve my skill in the badminton by this chance.

MEASURABLE

How can I find out, at any time, how much I have achieve and how much more I have to go?

I have been planned a few ways which how to know my improvement. I decided to spend the time of the last three weeks to compete with my friends who are excellent than me in playing badminton. I will conduct a few competition among my friends and I in the last three weeks. Therefore, I have to win my friends in the competititon because it can prove that I have been improved after the practice. I think this is the best way to measure my achievement after practising about 10 weeks. Furthermore, I can ask my friends to observe my improvement along the 10 weeks. They will observe whether I can master the technique in playing badminton well after each practice to prove my improvement. So, I must win my friends at least once at the end of week 13th because I never win my friends before because I am really very weak in playing badminton.

AMBITIOUS

Why I choose this goal?

Playing badminton can build up the relationship among my friends and i. I can spend more time with my friends by asking my friends who are excellent in this sport to teach me . After we came to Singapore for study, I found that I didn’t spend much time together with my friends. This situation will happen because we always spent most of the time on study. My friends and I too concentrated on study because we wish to get good result in the exam. Therefore, our relationship became less closer and we didn’t have much topic when we chatted together. After some time, we found that we don’t like this kind of life and wish to change it. Finally, we found that playing badminton can help to closer our relationship because we can spend more time together other than the time which we spend on study.

In addition, we can also maintain good health by playing badminton. Nowadays, majority of the students busy with their study and don’t have enough time to care about their health. They have the same opinion that health is not important if compare to their works. This will cause many health problems occure and many people will get suffer of it. At that time, this situation will be difficult to be solved. I don’t want to be same like them because I know I will get sufferof the health problems in the future. So, I have been decided to maintain good health by playing badminton. Playing badminton can also help me maintain my body condition at the heathy level.

Furthermore, we can fullfill our free time wisely by playing badminton. All students spend their free time with useless things. Most of the boys like to spend their free time on playing computer or online games. This will bring many disadvantages to the students. Long period ot time looking to the computer will harm the eyes and cause the students entrall in the games. On the other hand, most of the girls always go to shopping when they have free time. However, shopping will waste our money. Therefore, I think that we better play a sport at free time than doing such useless things. This is because playing badminton is good for our health whereas the playing online games and shopping will bring us nothing.

REACHABLE

Is it realistic?

I have been play badminton since before. The problem is I am very weak in playing badminton so I decided to improve my skill in playing badminton. So, I think that it is realistic for me to improve my skill in playing badminton and win against my friends after I practise about 13 weeks. This is because I can learn much about the skill and the technique in the period of 13 weeks. So, this goal is reachable if I am hardworking in practising it.

How can I achieve the goal?

I have been planned how to achieve my goal. Firstly, I will spend the weekend’s time to play the badminton. This is because my friends and I don’t have class on the weekend. So, i have enough time to ask my friends to teach me the skill on how to playing badminton. Beside that, I will also have much time for me to practise. This is because I know that I will only improve my skill of badminton if I spend enough time on it. I need to plan the time which my friends and I free so that we can play together. So, I have been confirm with my friends that we will play badminton from 8p.m to 9p.m of every weekend. We have also promise among us that we will follow the time for playing badminton.

Other than that, I think I need extra time for me to improve my skill of playing badminton. Therefore, I will ask my friends whether they can spend some time on the other days which means from Monday to Friday so that they can practise with me. That is good if I can get more time for me to learn from my friends and practise myself because I can improve more. However, I also need to consider about them that they really have time to teach me. We cann’t also neglect our study and spend most of the time in playing badminton. We will make both of the study and the sport to be at a balance condition.

TIME-BOUND

Does the goal have an absolute deadline?

I have only the period of time which is 13 weeks to achieve my goal. So, I have set a time table for the me to follow along this 13 weeks. In the time table, I have planned to achieve which level of playing badminton at which week.

My Time Table

Week 1
- Search for some information from the internet so that I can know more about badminton.

Week 2
-Learn the basic things of the badminton which is how the marks to be counted in the badminton competition.

Week 3 - 10
-Ask my friends to teach me so that I can master all the technique of the badminton.
-Learn how to play badminton by backhand technique, ‘drop’ the shuttlecock, smack it and the others.

Week 11 – 13
-Conduct a few competition among my friends and I to see my improvement.
